Slide!
They had a good time sliding down the stairs. I noticed Luke had a rugburn on his chest the next day.

Strong Will or Weak Will?
I follow a yahoo group for moms (and dads) of preschool kids that are homeschooling using the Charlotte Mason approach. One of the moms wrote this in:
A child who truly has a strong will, can will himself to behave well.
A willful child, the sort of child we mistakenly call "strong willed" is actually at the mercy of his own whims and emotions. He is weak willed, because he cannot control his behavior. He wants what he wants now and he can no more will himself to be patient and wait than he can give himself the moon, because a willful child has no power of will.
Our job is to help the willful child see that he is letting his emotions and desires, his will, control him, and that his job is to take mastery of his own emotions and behavior. We are to help him strengthen his will so that he can develop the strength of will to control himself.
My kool-aid kids
We went out to my mom and dad's to celebrate Rachelle and Bren's engagement. Addison and Luke found something very sweet that they had not tasted before. Made for big smiles and a lot of potty breaks.

Just a thought.
I want to have a high view of God. I want to instill in my kids a high view of God. Is that even possible though? High to me is still so small to God.

First Day of School!
Scott started back to school today, so I decided we would start too!
After spending the whole summer with Daddy it's hard to let him go.
Fishing with cat tails. I think they did this for almost an hour!
Of course there was a pretend weiner roast.
The baby even got a good nap! Sort of.
Discovering hedge apples up close.
Little explorers love the magnifying glass.
And they like to be silly too!
What do I spy in the grass?
She's awake and happy! Relaxin' in the stroller with her feet up. What a great day!

Homemade baby food!
Brooke is 6 months old now so that means it's time to start learning how to eat! I couldn't bring myself to buy the overpriced baby food on the shelf when it is much less expensive and healthier to make. So in about an hour I managed to make over $20 in baby food for just $5! I found the containers at a garage sale for .50. I got peaches for .99 a pound, a bag of baby carrots for .99, red taped bananas for .30 a pound, green beans for .79 a pound, half a bag of peas for .50 and a sweet potato for .95. I still want to make some squash and applesauce but I want to buy the apples from the orchard and get the squash from someone's garden. It only took about an hour to make, including clean up!
I know I need to update the picture for the blog, but I had a really good one on our camera that was stolen. I still haven't been able to capture one where all three kids are looking at the camera. But we got a new camera that you can record video and then go back and get still pictures from the video. So I think I will put that to use! You can also take pictures while you are recording and the camera flashes when it thinks it's a good time to take a still picture. Somehow it notices when everyone is looking.
