Adventures at Jones Park

Our adventures began as we walked by our beloved crab apple tree that we always pass on our way to Jones Park. The kids are delighted to observe the way this tree changes through the seasons. This is their special "cherry" tree.
They notice more "cherry" trees and marvel at the work of our Creator.
Addison stops to examine a blade of grass while Luke wonders where to go next.
"Luke let me put this in your pocket so I can save it."
"An orange line! Let's follow it! I wonder where it goes?"
"A little pond! It's just our size. I wonder what kind of fish we can catch."
"Look mommie! I caught a slimy green fish!"
"There's a rabbit in the trees! Can we get it?"
"Blowing dandelions is like blowing bubbles!"
"A dead snake! Cool! I think I will throw it in the pond."
"Umm mommy smell this. I don't think you will like it."
"What's in here?"

Why Homeschool?

In deciding to homeschool our children people are always curious as to why we have chosen this route. Usually you start thinking about the pros and cons and what's best for the family. As I continue to dig deeper into the truths of scripture I am finding jewels to help pave my path. Parents are instructed to "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6 So how in the world do I do that? For us it means time with the kids. My children need to be trained, loved, disciplined, nurtured, and who better to do that then their mom? Teachers, friends, other family are great too, but primarily it is the job of the parent. My kids deserve the best of my time and energy, which for me is not at the end of the day. I want to provide for my children a quiet learning time. A place to nourish their mind and soul and prepare them for the world. I want to answer their "whys". I want to help them see that God's fingerprints are on everything and point them to His greatness. Homeschooling gives me boundless opportunities to live out Deuteronomy 6:6-7. There is nothing I would rather do, this is my highest calling, so this is what we have chosen.

Fun with Friends!

Tuesday morning is bible study day. Afterward we like to go to a park for lunch. I don't know who enjoys it more, the moms or the kids. Today we went to the Hauff's AWESOME back yard. This is some of the future youth group of FHCC. They are all getting to be great friends.

Never a dull moment!

On Saturday we were all working in the back yard enjoying the beautiful day. (Brooke was working hard at sleeping) Scott and I came in for a little break and we heard Addison holler, "We caught a rabbit! We caught a rabbit!" I thought, "Yeah right." Then she said, "But it's dead." I figured they had found some dead baby bunnies. Then I turned around and saw Luke standing in the kitchen holding a full sized dead rabbit! I was astounded! Sorry we got rid of the rabbit before we got any pictures.

The Adventures!

The kids are growing and so is the family! Brooke has joined the Marshall Family Adventures! I hope to keep our adventures updated here as our family journeys into home education. Addison starts kindergarten this fall. As I am educating myself about how to best educate my children I am discovering that this will be an amazing and fun adventure! I invite you to take a peek into our journey as we start this new path.
